Graduate research fellowship in computational and data science

NSF IRES ASSURE (Algorithms & Software for SUpercomputers with emerging aRchitEctures) is an opportunity for graduate students, working with their U.S. advisors, to initiate year-long (9 months) research collaborations with computational groups at international supercomputing sites.

Project sites: Jülich Supercomputing Center - Germany and RIKEN Center for Computational Sciences - Japan.

Project areas include: computational biophysics, computational chemistry and machine learning in biomolecular simulations.

Students have opportunities to build their domain-specific and computational skills and utilize unique HPC architectures. Many projects have the potential to become long-term collaborations.

The collaboration will be remote, with the possibility of a site visit in 2023/2024, depending on the global health situation. Students commit a minimum of 20-25 hours of research time weekly. A stipend of $1600 biweekly (pre-tax) and a health insurance allowance is provided.

U.S. citizens and permanent residents from all U.S. institutions are eligible to apply. We encourage Ph.D. graduate students, especially women and other underrepresented minorities in STEM, to apply.
